2027: Tinubu can’t win if election is free, fair – Buba Galadima

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former ally of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu would not win the 2027 presidential election if the process is free and fair. He also insisted that no candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious under such conditions.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Galadima said Nigerians are unhappy with the APC-led government, especially farmers who he believes have been badly affected by current policies. According to him, the hardship in the agricultural sector has weakened public trust, making it difficult for the ruling party to gain popular support in the next election.

Galadima argued that rising production costs have discouraged farmers across the country. He pointed out that fertiliser now sells for about N70,000 per bag, while farm produce such as millet, maize and beans sell at much lower prices. He said this imbalance has removed the motivation for farmers to continue farming, as they can no longer make profits.

He further blamed the situation on what he described as excessive importation of goods that Nigerians can produce locally. According to Galadima, this policy crashes local prices and discourages production, which could lead to serious food and economic challenges. He maintained that under these conditions, farmers would not support President Tinubu or the APC in 2027.
