UCL: Kylian Mbappe equals Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal record in Real Madrid’s win over Monaco

Kylian Mbappé has reached another historic milestone in the UEFA Champions League after matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals scored in a single group stage. The French forward achieved this feat as Real Madrid cruised to a dominant 6-1 victory over AS Monaco at the Santiago Bernabéu. It was a special night for Mbappé, who faced his former club and delivered a standout performance.

The Real Madrid star scored twice in the first half, continuing his sensational form in Europe this season. Mbappé opened the scoring just five minutes into the match after latching onto a fine pass from Federico Valverde. He later added his second goal in the 26th minute, calmly heading home a cross from Vinícius Júnior at the far post.

With those goals, Mbappé now has 11 goals in the Champions League this season, achieved in just six matches. This equals the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2015–16 group stage campaign with Real Madrid. No other player in Champions League history has scored more than 11 goals at this stage of the competition.

Real Madrid are still set to play Benfica in their final league-phase fixture, giving Mbappé the chance to break the record outright. Beyond that, the forward is also closing in on Ronaldo’s all-time record of 17 goals in a single Champions League season. If his current form continues, the Frenchman could be on course for an unforgettable European campaign.
