Police recover 26 stolen cows in Oyo, arrest two suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has successfully recovered 26 stolen cows and arrested two suspects, identified as Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello, following a coordinated operation. The arrest took place at Odojaye via Aganyan, Iresadu, as the suspects were attempting to hide the stolen livestock.

According to DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer, the recovered cows are valued at approximately N6,250,000. The operation highlights the effectiveness of combined police and community efforts in safeguarding property and livelihoods.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the theft and provided information about their wider criminal network. Investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover additional stolen livestock.

The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to bringing all perpetrators of cattle rustling to justice, emphasizing that the arrest and recovery serve as a warning to criminals targeting farmers and livestock owners.
