Ekiti community seeks Gov Oyebanji’s intervention over lack of infrastructure

Residents of Itamo Community in the Igirigiri area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, have appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the Ado Local Government Chairman, Bosun Osaloni, to urgently address the poor state of infrastructure in their area. The call was made during a New Year prayer meeting where community members expressed deep concern over worsening living conditions.

According to the residents, bad roads and the absence of proper drainage have made life extremely difficult, especially during the rainy season. They explained that constant flooding and damaged access roads from Lobinto Junction and Embassy Island through Agric Olope often disrupt movement and economic activities within the community.

Speaking on behalf of the people, business owners Olagoke Oluwatuyi, Henry Abas, and Veronica Egbejule said many traders are unable to operate during heavy rainfall, while some are stranded in their shops for hours. They noted that several businesses have shut down, and some families have been forced to relocate due to the persistent challenges. Despite these issues, they praised Governor Oyebanji for ongoing development efforts across the state.

The community stressed that Itamo is one of the fastest-growing parts of Ado-Ekiti and deserves urgent attention. They suggested opening the road through Fehintoluwa community as an alternative route and also appealed for improved electricity supply, including the provision of a transformer. The residents reaffirmed their confidence in Governor Oyebanji and their representatives, promising continued support as they await government intervention.
