24-year-old father beats daughter to death in Calabar

A tragic incident occurred in Calabar as a 24-year-old man, Joseph Emmanuel, reportedly beat his 10-year-old daughter to death. The shocking attack happened after the child allegedly misplaced her father’s petrol pipe, which he used for his commercial motorcycle. Neighbors nearly lynched the man in anger before police intervention.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Akata, the suspect sustained visible injuries inflicted by the youths before being taken into custody. Emmanuel reportedly confessed to killing his daughter, citing provocation as the reason.

The deceased child’s body was deposited at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UNICAL) mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the suspect was taken to the same hospital for medical attention. Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the incident has begun.
