Focus on tackling insecurity, not chairmanship tussle – Igboho to Alaafin, Olubadan

Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has urged traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo and the Olubadan of Ibadan, to prioritize security over internal disputes about local council chairmanship. He made the appeal during a recent public statement, stressing the urgent need to address rising insecurity in the region.

Igboho warned that political and administrative conflicts should not distract community leaders from protecting residents and ensuring peace. He highlighted increasing criminal activities, including kidnappings and violent clashes, as issues requiring immediate attention from traditional and government authorities alike.

The activist encouraged collaborative efforts between traditional institutions and security agencies to curb criminality and safeguard communities. He emphasized that leadership disputes should not overshadow the pressing need to create a safe environment for all citizens.

Residents and observers have welcomed Igboho’s call, noting that prioritizing security would help restore public confidence in both traditional institutions and local governance structures.
