Super Eagles: No contract extension discussion – NFF on Chelle’s status after AFCON

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has clarified that there have been no discussions about extending the contract of Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, following the team’s outing at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON. The federation said reports suggesting talks over a new deal are not true.

According to the NFF, Chelle remains under his existing contractual agreement, and any decision about his future will only be made after a proper review process. Officials explained that it is standard practice to assess performance before opening talks on contract matters.

The federation also stressed that its focus is currently on the Super Eagles’ upcoming fixtures and long-term football development plans. It noted that coaching decisions are handled with care and will always be in the best interest of Nigerian football.

NFF urged fans and the media to avoid speculation, assuring Nigerians that due process will be followed. The football body promised to communicate clearly when any decision is taken regarding Chelle’s future with the Super Eagles.
