A court has reserved judgment in a case involving alleged human rights violations connected to the construction and use of the Numan–Jalingo road. The matter was brought before the court by affected individuals and communities who claim their fundamental rights were breached during the execution of the project.
According to the claimants, the road project allegedly led to forced displacement, destruction of property, and inadequate compensation. They argued that due process was not followed and that their rights to dignity, livelihood, and fair treatment were ignored by the authorities involved.
During the hearing, lawyers representing the defendants denied the allegations, insisting that the project was carried out in the public interest and in line with the law. They urged the court to dismiss the suit, stating that proper procedures were followed and that no rights were violated.
After listening to arguments from both sides, the judge announced that judgment would be reserved to a later date. The decision is expected to have significant implications for infrastructure development, community rights, and accountability in public projects across the region.
