The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims that Governor Dauda Lawal is defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC. Party officials described the rumours as false and politically motivated.

According to the APC, the governor remains a loyal member of the PDP, and there are no ongoing discussions about any change in his political affiliation. The party emphasised that circulating such reports could create unnecessary tension in the state.

The APC warned political actors and media outlets against spreading unverified information, urging them to verify facts before publication. Party leaders stated that Governor Lawal’s political position and alliances have not shifted, and he continues to work with his current party for the development of Zamfara.

The statement comes amid growing speculation in political circles ahead of the 2027 elections. APC leaders in Zamfara reaffirmed their commitment to engaging in peaceful political discourse while maintaining focus on the party’s objectives in the state.
