Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed the reason behind Xabi Alonso’s reported dismissal, saying internal dressing-room issues played a major role. According to Zidane, managing Real Madrid is not just about tactics but also about controlling strong personalities within the team.

Zidane explained that once a coach loses the support of senior players at Real Madrid, it becomes almost impossible to succeed. He stated that trying to challenge or “fight” established players often leads to problems, especially at a club where players have huge influence and status.

The former France international noted that Alonso may have struggled to balance authority and player management. Zidane stressed that Real Madrid players are used to winning and expect respect, and when that balance breaks down, the club usually chooses the players over the coach.

Zidane added that Real Madrid’s history shows a pattern where coaches are replaced quickly if harmony is lost. He said success at the club depends heavily on maintaining unity, trust, and respect in the dressing room, not just tactical knowledge or football philosophy.
