Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has started a statewide needs assessment to check the condition of general hospitals across the state. The aim is to understand the real problems facing public health facilities and find practical solutions to improve healthcare services for residents.
The assessment will focus on hospital buildings, medical equipment, availability of drugs, and the number of health workers in each facility. Officials will visit hospitals in different local government areas to gather information directly from health workers and patients.
Governor Alia said the exercise is necessary to ensure that government funds are used properly and that hospitals get what they truly need. He explained that the data collected will guide the state’s health budget and future development plans.
The state government believes the assessment will help revive struggling hospitals and restore public confidence in the healthcare system. Residents are hopeful that the process will lead to better medical care, shorter waiting times, and improved services across Benue State.
