A Catholic Knight has publicly renounced Christianity after accusing the church of failing to recognise the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s contribution to the construction of a cathedral. The man said he felt deeply disappointed that such a major donation was allegedly ignored by church authorities, especially after Ubah’s death.
According to him, the church had a moral duty to honour and acknowledge people who supported its growth and development. He argued that failing to appreciate the late businessman and politician’s support sends a wrong message to members and benefactors of the church.
The decision has generated mixed reactions, with some people supporting the knight’s stand, while others say leaving the faith over such an issue is extreme. Church members and observers have called for calm and urged both sides to resolve the matter peacefully.
So far, church officials have not issued an official response to the allegations. However, the incident has reopened conversations about transparency, appreciation of donors, and how religious institutions manage and communicate contributions made by prominent members.
