The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported a troubling increase in road accidents in Bauchi State, recording 50 deaths and 468 injuries within a three-month period. The statistics highlight ongoing concerns over road safety and compliance with traffic regulations across the state.
According to the FRSC, most accidents were linked to overspeeding, reckless driving, and poor adherence to road signs. The agency warned that drivers who ignore traffic rules put both their lives and the lives of others at significant risk.
The corps emphasized the importance of following road safety measures, including the use of seatbelts, helmets, and speed limits, as part of efforts to reduce accidents and fatalities. They also urged motorists to avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
FRSC officials noted that enforcement and public awareness campaigns will continue across Bauchi to curb the rising number of accidents. They called on residents and road users to cooperate with authorities to make roads safer for everyone.
