Proof of Address: 10,000 front-end partners trained nationwide – ALGON

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has announced that 10,000 front-end partners have been trained across the country to support the new Proof of Address initiative. The project is designed to improve identity verification, service delivery, and access to government programmes at the local government level.

ALGON said the trained partners will work directly within communities to help residents register, verify their addresses, and understand how the system works. This grassroots approach is expected to reduce errors, improve data accuracy, and make it easier for citizens to access essential public services.

According to the association, the training focused on digital skills, ethical standards, and proper handling of personal information. ALGON stressed that data protection and privacy were key parts of the programme to ensure citizens’ information is safe and used only for legitimate purposes.

ALGON added that the Proof of Address system will support planning, security, taxation, and social intervention programmes nationwide. The association encouraged citizens to cooperate with the trained partners, noting that the success of the initiative depends on public trust, participation, and transparency.
