PDP has no faction, only splinter group – Umar Sani

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has said the party is not divided into factions, insisting that what exists is only a splinter group. He made this known during an interview on TVC’s Breakfast Show, where he explained that the party remains legally and structurally united.

Sani said a faction can only be recognised when a court officially declares it, adding that no such declaration has been made concerning the PDP. According to him, the party’s organs are still functioning normally, and anyone operating outside the recognised structure should be seen as a breakaway group, not a faction.

He pointed out that the PDP’s original Board of Trustees (BoT) is still in place and properly constituted. Sani stressed that the group linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cannot be regarded as the authentic BoT since it was formed later and outside the party’s established framework.

The PDP chieftain said most Nigerians know that Senator Adolphus Wabara remains the legitimate chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees. He added that the party leadership remains intact and committed to unity, urging members to respect the party’s constitution and internal processes.
