The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said that terrorism in Northern Nigeria can be defeated if leaders and communities work together in unity and cooperation. The group stressed that security challenges cannot be solved by government alone, but require the collective effort of all stakeholders.

CAN explained that when religious, traditional and political leaders speak with one voice and promote peace, it becomes harder for extremists and criminals to exploit divisions within society. The association warned that disunity only gives room for violence, fear and instability to grow.

The group also urged communities to share information with security agencies and support peace-building efforts in their areas. According to CAN, early reporting of suspicious activities and cooperation with law enforcement can help prevent attacks before they happen.

CAN therefore called on all Nigerians, especially those in the North, to reject hatred, promote dialogue and stand together against terrorism. It said unity, mutual respect and collaboration remain the strongest tools for restoring peace and protecting lives and property.
