At least two people have been killed and several others kidnapped after armed bandits attacked Unguwar Nagunda community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident happened on Sunday night as a group of wedding guests were arriving in the village from a nearby community to attend a marriage ceremony.
Residents said the attackers stormed the area suddenly, causing panic among villagers and guests. Heavy gunshots were heard, forcing many people to run for safety while others were caught in the chaos. Some victims were reportedly shot, and the bride was among those who sustained injuries during the attack.
A security analyst, Bakatsine, who shared details of the incident on social media, said the exact number of abducted persons is still unknown. According to him, families are still searching for missing relatives and trying to confirm how many people were taken away by the attackers during the raid.
As of the time of reporting, the Katsina State Police Command had not released any official statement on the incident. Meanwhile, residents have called on security agencies and the state government to urgently strengthen security in rural communities to prevent further attacks and protect innocent lives.
