The Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State has collapsed its entire party structure into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party leaders said the move was taken after wide consultations to strengthen the opposition and present a united front in the next elections.
According to the Rivers LP leadership, the decision is part of a broader plan to build a stronger political platform that can challenge the ruling party nationwide. They explained that joining ADC would help avoid division among opposition supporters and create a more organised structure for electoral success.
The party also pledged massive support for former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing him as a credible leader who represents good governance, accountability, and transparency. Members promised to mobilise voters across Rivers communities in support of Obi’s vision for Nigeria.
ADC leaders in Rivers State welcomed the development, saying the merger would boost the party’s strength and grassroots presence. They expressed confidence that the new alliance would reshape political dynamics in the state and improve the chances of the opposition in the 2027 elections.
