He illegally invaded Venezuela, wants to forcefully take Greenland – Shehu Sani slams Trump

Former Nigerian senator and human rights activist Shehu Sani has sharply criticised United States President Donald Trump, accusing him of illegitimate interference in other nations’ affairs. Sani described Trump’s military action in Venezuela as an “illegal invasion” and said the U.S. leader now appears ready to pursue control of Greenland by force.

Sani said such actions go against international law and the sovereignty of independent nations. He warned that plans to seize Greenland or similar territories would worsen global tensions and undermine diplomatic norms. The activist emphasised that powerful countries should respect the rights of others instead of pursuing aggressive strategies.

The former Kaduna Central lawmaker also expressed concern that these moves could deepen distrust between countries and harm global peace efforts. He urged world leaders to focus on cooperation and respect for international rules rather than unilateral actions that could trigger conflict.

Sani’s comments reflect wider international scepticism about possible U.S. territorial ambitions, especially after Trump’s recent statements suggesting Greenland has strategic value and could be pursued “one way or another.” Critics including Denmark’s leaders have rejected these claims and said the U.S. has no right to annex Greenland.
