Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle has expressed confidence that Nigeria can defeat Algeria in their AFCON quarter-final clash in Morocco. Speaking ahead of the match, Chelle said his team has studied Algeria carefully and identified areas where they can break through their defence. He described it as “a door” that can be opened with the right movement and discipline.
Chelle explained that Algeria are strong, organised and difficult to break down, but they sometimes leave small gaps when they push players forward. He said Nigeria plans to use quick passing, pace on the wings and smart positioning to take advantage of those moments. According to him, patience will be key, as rushing the game could play into Algeria’s hands.
The coach also stressed the importance of concentration and teamwork, saying every player must stay focused from the first whistle to the last. He warned that Algeria are dangerous on counter-attacks and set-pieces, so the Super Eagles must defend well while waiting for their chances to score.
Chelle concluded by urging his players to believe in themselves and play with confidence. He said Nigeria has the quality, experience and hunger to go far in the tournament, and beating Algeria would be an important step toward winning the AFCON title.
