AFCON: Nigeria have scored 12 goals, I’m afraid – Algeria captain, Mahrez

Algeria captain, Riyad Mahrez, has admitted that Nigeria’s attacking strength is a big concern ahead of their quarter-final clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Mahrez said the Super Eagles’ ability to score goals freely makes them a dangerous opponent that no team should underestimate.

Speaking before the match, Mahrez noted that Nigeria have already scored 12 goals in the tournament, showing how sharp and confident they are in front of goal. He added that Algeria must be fully prepared, focused, and disciplined if they want to stop the Nigerian attackers from causing damage.

Despite his concerns, Mahrez said Algeria are not afraid in a negative way, but rather respectful of Nigeria’s quality. He stressed that his team will approach the match with belief and determination, aiming to play their best football and compete strongly for a place in the semi-final.

Fans across Africa are eagerly waiting for the encounter, which is expected to be one of the most exciting games of the tournament. With both teams full of talent and experience, the match promises goals, drama, and high-level football.
