Wike undermining, exposing Tinubu to ridicule – Abati

Former presidential aide and media commentator, Reuben Abati, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of acting in ways that undermine President Bola Tinubu and expose the presidency to public embarrassment. Abati made the remarks during a media discussion where he analysed recent political developments and public reactions to Wike’s statements and actions.

According to Abati, some of Wike’s public comments and confrontational political style are creating unnecessary controversies that reflect poorly on the federal government. He said that while political disagreements are normal, they should be handled with restraint, especially by top officials whose actions directly affect the image of the presidency.

Abati argued that when senior government officials openly clash with political actors and institutions, it weakens public trust and creates the impression of instability within the government. He warned that such behaviour could distract from governance and policy implementation, which are what citizens expect from elected leaders.

He therefore urged political leaders, particularly those in high office, to be more careful with their words and conduct, stressing that unity, discipline, and focus are needed to move the country forward and protect the dignity of the presidency.
