An analyst has backed the intervention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Dr. Mai Mala Basiru, in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State. The expert noted that Basiru’s involvement is aimed at restoring order within the party and preventing further divisions ahead of key elections.
According to the analyst, the APC in Rivers has faced internal conflicts that could undermine its electoral prospects. Basiru’s role, he explained, is consistent with the party’s national structure, which ensures that state-level disputes are guided and supervised by the national leadership.
The analyst emphasized that party stability requires timely interventions from top officials, adding that ignoring such conflicts could embolden factions and weaken the party’s position in the state. He described Basiru’s action as both necessary and strategic to maintain cohesion among party members.
Finally, the expert urged all APC stakeholders in Rivers State to cooperate with the national leadership. He stated that party unity is crucial not just for electoral success but also for demonstrating disciplined governance and adherence to party rules.
