Nigerian rapper Jeriq has dismissed claims that Igbo musicians do not support one another in the music industry. He said the idea is a wrong narrative that ignores the many ways artists from the South-East promote and help each other grow.
According to Jeriq, Igbo artists often collaborate behind the scenes, share opportunities, and give advice to upcoming talents even if it does not always happen publicly on social media. He explained that support does not always mean posting online or appearing in videos together.
The rapper also said competition in the industry should not be confused with hatred or jealousy. He noted that healthy competition pushes artists to improve their craft while still respecting and encouraging one another.
Jeriq urged fans to stop spreading divisive stories and instead focus on celebrating the achievements of Igbo musicians both at home and abroad, adding that unity remains important for the growth of the industry.
