Pastor Chris Okafor fails to appear at police over alleged sexual offences

Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, did not show up at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, on Monday, after being invited by the police over allegations linked to misconduct and actions that could disturb public peace.

The Lagos State Police Command had earlier confirmed that complaints were filed against the cleric, prompting the Commissioner of Police to order a full investigation. The police said Okafor was expected to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID by 10 a.m., but he failed to honour the invitation.

A police officer familiar with the case said Okafor did not arrive throughout the day and that his absence was officially noted. Another source disclosed that some of the pastor’s aides contacted the police to request more time, promising that he would report at a later date.

As of the time of this report, the police have not announced any further action, while efforts to reach the Lagos Police spokesperson for an update were unsuccessful. The investigation, however, is expected to continue as authorities work to clarify the allegations and determine the next steps.
