Former senator Abdallah Wali has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking another major political shift in Kano State. Wali, who previously represented Kano Central in the Senate, confirmed his defection in a statement released to the public, saying he could no longer continue with the party due to internal disagreements.
According to him, the PDP has drifted away from its founding values and no longer provides a platform for constructive politics and development. He said his decision was not taken lightly but became necessary after long consultations with his supporters and political associates.
Wali’s exit adds to the growing list of high-profile politicians leaving the PDP in recent times, especially in northern Nigeria. Political analysts say this development could weaken the party’s structure in Kano ahead of future elections and strengthen rival parties seeking to gain ground in the state.
While Abdallah Wali has not yet announced his next political move, observers believe he may soon align with another party or play a behind-the-scenes role in upcoming political contests. His departure is seen as another sign of the changing political landscape ahead of 2027.
