The African Democratic Congress, ADC, says it has recorded a major boost in Abia State following the recent entrance of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, into the party. Party officials revealed that more than 5,000 new members have registered across different local government areas since Obi’s move became public.
According to ADC leaders in the state, the surge reflects growing public interest in alternative political platforms and a desire for fresh leadership. They explained that many of the new members are youths and first-time participants in politics who feel inspired by Obi’s message of accountability and good governance.
The party said it has strengthened its grassroots structure in response to the increased numbers, setting up new ward offices and expanding its mobilisation teams. Officials also noted that the development has energised existing members and improved internal organisation ahead of future elections.
ADC leaders in Abia described the development as a positive sign for democratic competition, stressing that the party remains open to all Nigerians who want transparent leadership and people-focused governance. They urged supporters to stay peaceful and engaged as the political process continues.
