Gov Ododo signs two new revenue laws

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has signed two new revenue laws aimed at increasing state income and improving transparency in tax collection. The laws are the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service Establishment Law, 2025, and the Kogi State Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Law, 2025.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Thursday, Governor Ododo explained that both laws are digital and technology-driven, reducing human interference in revenue collection and promoting accountability across the system.

The Governor emphasized that individuals earning below N800,000 annually are exempt from taxation under the new regulations. He also noted that the laws simplify processes for businesses, lower compliance costs, and create a more investor-friendly environment.

Governor Ododo stated that the laws aim to strengthen Kogi’s economy, ensure fairness in taxation, and protect the dignity of citizens. He added that these reforms reflect the state government’s commitment to sustainable development and efficient governance.
