Nigerian govt using EFCC to prosecute me because I refuse to join APC — Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has accused the federal government of using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to prosecute him because he refused to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the alleged targeting as politically motivated.

The governor said that his commitment to his current political party has led to pressure from federal authorities, who are reportedly attempting to coerce him into switching allegiance. He claimed the EFCC actions are not based on legal grounds but rather on political interests.

Bala Mohammed added that such pressure tactics are undermining democratic principles, stressing that politicians should be allowed to remain in their chosen parties without facing harassment or prosecution. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant against politically motivated legal actions.

He concluded by asserting his determination to continue serving his state independently of party pressures, emphasizing that political coercion will not deter him from fulfilling his duties to the people of Bauchi.
