The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has openly invited Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kalu made the call while addressing party supporters during a town hall meeting and food distribution programme in Bende, Abia State.
According to Kalu, Governor Otti’s support for President Bola Tinubu would be more meaningful if he becomes a member of the ruling party. He argued that real political cooperation works better when leaders belong to the same party, especially at the federal and state levels.
Kalu also dismissed rumours that he has declared interest in the 2027 Abia governorship race. He said he is still consulting widely and waiting for guidance from the APC’s national leadership before making any political decisions about the future.
He further complained about constant attacks from social media critics, saying some people deliberately misrepresent his empowerment activities as early campaigning. Kalu insisted that his programmes are meant to help the people and not to announce any political ambition.
