MACBAN claims local militias shot five Fulani youths in Plateau

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has reported that five Fulani youths were shot and seriously injured on Saturday evening in Jos South Local Government Area. The group alleged that the attack was carried out by suspected local militias and described it as an unprovoked act of violence against innocent travellers.

According to the association’s state chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, the victims were returning from the Bukuru cattle market when their vehicle came under gunfire near a filling station along Bukuru Express Road, close to Angul D. He said the attackers suddenly opened fire on the vehicle, leaving all five youths with gunshot wounds.

Yusuf stated that security personnel later rushed the injured youths to Jos University Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment. He also called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

The MACBAN chairman warned that repeated attacks on travellers could worsen tensions in the state if not properly addressed. He urged the Plateau State Government and security agencies to strengthen security along major roads and trading routes in order to protect lives and prevent further violence.
