Court remands ex-AGF Malami in Kuje Prison

A court has ordered that former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre while legal proceedings continue in a case brought before it. The order followed his appearance in court over allegations that have not yet been fully determined.

According to reports, the court decided that Malami should be kept in custody pending further hearings, either to allow investigations to continue or to ensure his availability for trial. The judge reportedly ruled that the matter required careful handling due to its legal and public importance.

Malami, who served as Nigeria’s Attorney-General during the previous administration, is a well-known public figure. His legal team is expected to respond formally and may seek bail or challenge the remand order in line with court procedures.

The development has attracted public attention, with Nigerians following the case closely. Legal experts have reminded the public that the remand does not amount to a conviction and that Malami remains innocent under the law until the court reaches a final decision.
