Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has advised the Federal Government to expand ongoing anti-terrorism operations beyond Sokoto State to other parts of the country affected by insecurity. He said focusing on only one location will not solve the wider security challenges Nigeria is currently facing.
Tambuwal explained that terrorist groups and armed criminals operate across several regions and often move from one state to another. According to him, limiting military action to Sokoto alone could allow criminals to relocate and continue their activities elsewhere without being stopped.
He therefore called on security agencies to adopt a coordinated and nationwide approach, combining intelligence, technology and community support to deal with insecurity effectively. Tambuwal stressed that protecting lives and property must remain the government’s top priority.
The former governor also urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies by sharing useful information that can help identify criminal hideouts and prevent attacks. He said a united effort between government, security forces and local communities is necessary to restore peace across Nigeria.
