US airstrikes missed target, missiles hit empty field – Ex-FRCN DG Salihu

A former Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Salihu, has said that the recent US airstrikes in parts of Northern Nigeria did not hit their intended targets. According to him, reports from the affected communities suggest that the missiles landed on open land instead of terrorist camps, raising questions about the accuracy of the operation.

Salihu explained that if the strikes truly missed their targets, then the operation would have little impact on reducing insecurity. He warned that poorly targeted attacks could also create fear among innocent residents without weakening the armed groups responsible for violence.

The former FRCN boss urged both Nigerian and foreign security partners to rely more on proper intelligence before carrying out such operations. He said effective security actions must be precise and based on verified information in order to avoid waste, confusion, or unintended harm.

Salihu added that fighting terrorism requires more than airstrikes alone. He stressed the need for better local intelligence, community engagement, and long-term strategies to truly address insecurity in the country.
