The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has ranked the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) as the top-performing federal agency in its 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Assessment. The ranking is part of ICPC’s annual effort to measure how government institutions comply with transparency, accountability and ethical standards.
According to the commission, NUPRC scored highest among ministries, departments and agencies due to its strong internal controls, transparent processes and commitment to ethical conduct. ICPC noted that the agency has improved its governance systems and encouraged staff to follow due process in all official dealings.
ICPC said the assessment was designed to promote a culture of integrity across the public service and help identify institutions that can serve as models for others. The commission added that while progress is being made, many agencies still need to strengthen their ethics frameworks and compliance mechanisms.
Reacting to the ranking, officials at NUPRC welcomed the recognition and described it as motivation to do more. They pledged to continue upholding high standards of transparency and accountability in regulating Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector for the benefit of the country.
