National Tax Policy expert, Kayode Oyedele, has clarified his earlier statement regarding the controversial Tax Reform Act, insisting that he never called the law “fake.” Oyedele noted that his comments were misinterpreted in media reports, leading to public confusion.
He explained that while the Act has generated debate and concerns from stakeholders, his intention was to discuss its potential challenges and implications, not to discredit it. Oyedele emphasized the importance of reviewing the law carefully to ensure proper implementation and compliance.
According to him, discussions around the Tax Reform Act should be based on facts and analysis rather than misrepresented statements. He urged media outlets and the public to verify comments before drawing conclusions or spreading misinformation.
Oyedele concluded by reaffirming his commitment to tax reform in Nigeria, stating that constructive dialogue and informed criticism are essential to improving the system. He called on policymakers, taxpayers, and experts to work together for effective tax administration.
