Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has signed the ₦1.62 trillion 2026 budget into law, marking one of the biggest spending plans in the state’s history. The governor said the budget is designed to accelerate development, improve infrastructure, and strengthen the state’s economy across key sectors.

Mbah also expressed confidence that the state can generate ₦870 billion internally in 2026, describing the revenue target as realistic and achievable. He noted that ongoing reforms in tax collection, digital revenue systems, and the expansion of the state’s economic base would help Enugu reach the target.

Mbah urged government agencies and contractors to ensure proper implementation of the budget, stressing that transparency and accountability would guide spending. He also assured residents that the government remains committed to delivering measurable development and ensuring that public funds are used wisely.
