Funke Akindele has once again proven her strong influence in Nollywood as her new movie, Behind The Scenes, has become the highest-grossing Nigerian film of 2025. The movie reached over ₦500 million in just a few days, making it the fastest Nigerian film to hit that milestone this year.
FilmOne, the company distributing the movie, confirmed the achievement on social media, thanking fans across West Africa for supporting the film in cinemas. The movie is currently topping cinema charts in Nigeria and Ghana, beating other competing films showing at the same time.
Behind The Scenes follows the story of Ronke Fernandez, a successful woman who must balance her kindness with setting personal limits. The film features popular Nollywood stars such as Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Uzor Arukwe, Mr Macaroni, Destiny Etiko and Scarlet Gomez, adding to its wide appeal.
This latest success adds to Funke Akindele’s impressive record at the box office. Her past movies like Everybody Loves Jenifa, Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto: The Saga also broke sales records, making her one of the most commercially successful filmmakers in Nigerian cinema history.
