Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has revealed reasons he may consider leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on recent political developments, Lamido said he is deeply worried about the current state and leadership direction of the party he helped build.
According to him, the PDP is drifting away from its founding values, including internal democracy, fairness, and respect for party elders. Lamido noted that repeated crises and unresolved internal conflicts have weakened the party and made it difficult for loyal members to remain committed.
He also expressed frustration over what he described as the sidelining of experienced leaders in key decisions. Lamido warned that ignoring voices of wisdom could further damage the party’s chances of regaining national relevance and public trust.
Despite his concerns, Lamido said no final decision has been made yet. He added that his loyalty to PDP remains strong, but stressed that urgent reforms are needed if the party hopes to survive and compete effectively in future elections.
