NPFL: Olanrewaju commends Rivers United players for draw against Katsina United

Rivers United head coach, Yemi Olarewaju, has praised his players for their performance in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Katsina United in Ilorin. He acknowledged the team’s effort despite conceding a goal due to defensive mistakes.

Goals came from Azeez Falolu for Katsina United and Stephen Manyo for Rivers United. Olarewaju said the team deserved more from the game but noted that tiredness from multiple recent matches affected the players.

The coach admitted that defensive lapses allowed Katsina United to score, but he emphasized that Rivers United dominated the match and created several scoring opportunities. He said, “We’re the better side despite the tiredness from my players.”

With the draw, Rivers United retained their top position in the league with 34 points. They are set to host Rangers in Port Harcourt this weekend, aiming to continue their strong performance in the NPFL.
