Yabagi Sani, the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has accused the Nigerian government of not being fully honest with citizens about the country’s worsening insecurity. He said official statements often downplay the true scale of violence and fear experienced by ordinary Nigerians across many regions.
According to Sani, communities continue to face attacks from bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers despite repeated assurances from authorities that the situation is improving. He argued that while government reports may highlight military successes, the daily reality for many citizens tells a different story.
The ADP chairman stressed that acknowledging the full extent of the security challenges is the first step toward finding lasting solutions. He warned that hiding facts or presenting half-truths could weaken public trust and make it harder for citizens to cooperate with security agencies.
Sani called on the federal government to be more transparent and honest in its communication. He said Nigerians deserve clear information about what is happening and what practical steps are being taken to protect lives and property, especially as insecurity continues to affect economic activities and social stability.
