The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that former House of Assembly Speaker, Najeem Salam, has already been chosen as its candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election. The party described the news as false, stressing that it has not endorsed anyone ahead of the polls.

ADC leaders explained that the party is committed to a fair and transparent internal process. They confirmed that preparations are underway for a proper primary election, where all aspirants will be given equal opportunity to compete. According to the party, this approach will ensure a credible flagbearer who truly represents the will of members.

The party warned the public to disregard unofficial announcements and clarified that no individual or group has the authority to declare a candidate without following due procedure. They added that spreading misleading information could create unnecessary tension among party supporters.

With Osun 2026 getting closer, the ADC said it is focused on strengthening its structures, mobilising supporters, and ensuring that the primary election produces a strong contender capable of challenging other parties in the race.
