PDP crisis: Turaki-led faction heads to court over sealed National Secretariat

The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn as the faction led by former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido Turaki, has approached the court over the sealing of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. The group described the action as unlawful and a direct attack on the party’s democratic structure.

According to the Turaki-led faction, the sealing of the secretariat has disrupted party activities and prevented staff from carrying out their lawful duties. The group insists that no individual or faction has the authority to shut down the party’s headquarters without due process, stressing that the move has further deepened divisions within the PDP.

In its court filing, the faction is asking for an order to reopen the secretariat and restrain any group from interfering with the party’s operations. The leaders argued that resolving internal disagreements through force or intimidation would only weaken the opposition party ahead of future elections.

The development highlights the growing leadership struggle within the PDP, with members calling for dialogue and respect for party rules. Many observers believe that how the matter is handled in court could shape the future unity and relevance of the party in Nigeria’s political landscape.
