Nigerian Govt negotiating with bandits – CUPP

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has revealed that the Nigerian government is engaged in negotiations with bandits to address ongoing security challenges. The party expressed concern that such talks might undermine efforts to hold criminals accountable for their violent acts. CUPP emphasized the need for a stronger, long-term strategy to tackle insecurity rather than relying solely on negotiations.

According to CUPP, negotiating with armed groups could send the wrong message to other criminal elements, potentially encouraging more attacks. The party argued that while dialogue might bring short-term relief, it cannot replace decisive action by security agencies to restore peace and protect citizens.

CUPP also criticized what it called the slow response of the government in tackling banditry, pointing out that citizens continue to face attacks, kidnappings, and property losses. The party urged authorities to combine security operations with community-based initiatives to prevent further crimes.

In conclusion, CUPP called for a clear national strategy to fight banditry, stressing that negotiations must not replace law enforcement. The party insisted that protecting lives and property should remain the government’s top priority while seeking sustainable solutions to insecurity in the country.
