Buhari told me he didn’t instigate Osinbajo to contest against Tinubu – Bisi Akande

Former Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has dismissed claims that former President Muhammadu Buhari encouraged ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to contest against Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Akande said Buhari made it clear to him that he did not instigate or support any move against Tinubu during the build-up to the APC presidential primaries.

Speaking on the matter, Akande explained that Buhari maintained a neutral position and avoided interfering in the internal contest of the ruling party. According to him, the former president respected the democratic process within the APC and allowed aspirants to pursue their ambitions without pressure or favoritism.

Akande stressed that the narrative of Buhari working behind the scenes to undermine Tinubu is misleading and unfair. He noted that political rivalries often give rise to false claims, especially during heated election periods, but insisted that Buhari’s stance was misunderstood by many party supporters.

The clarification comes amid ongoing debates within the APC over loyalty, succession politics, and past leadership decisions. Akande urged party members and the public to focus on unity and facts rather than speculation, adding that internal harmony remains key to the party’s future stability.
