Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem, has admitted that Nigeria will miss an important player ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Speaking about the squad, Awaziem described the absent player as a true leader whose presence on and off the pitch makes a big difference. According to him, leadership goes beyond football skills and includes guiding teammates during tough moments.
Awaziem explained that the player’s influence is felt especially in pressure situations. He noted that the individual motivates others, organizes the team, and helps maintain discipline during matches. Losing such a figure, he said, is not easy for any squad preparing for a major tournament like AFCON.
Despite this challenge, Awaziem believes the Super Eagles still have the quality to compete strongly. He stressed that other players must step up, take responsibility, and work together to cover for the missing leader. Team unity and focus, he added, will be key to Nigeria’s success in the competition.
As AFCON 2025 approaches, the Super Eagles are intensifying preparations with hopes of lifting the trophy. While the absence of a key leader may be felt, Awaziem remains confident that Nigeria’s depth and fighting spirit can help the team overcome obstacles and make the nation proud.
