We’ll arm state police, forest rangers to defeat terrorists, bandits – Tinubu vows

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to strengthen security by arming state police forces and forest rangers across Nigeria. Speaking at a national security briefing, he emphasized that the government is committed to ending the activities of terrorists, bandits, and other armed groups threatening communities.

Tinubu highlighted that empowering local security agencies will enhance intelligence gathering, rapid response, and operational effectiveness. He stressed that this move is part of broader reforms to modernize the security sector and protect citizens from violent crimes.

According to the President, the strategy also includes equipping state police and forest rangers with modern tools, training, and resources to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Tinubu said that collaboration between federal and state security agencies is crucial for tackling insecurity effectively.

The President urged communities to support security initiatives and cooperate with law enforcement. Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring safety, restoring public confidence, and reducing the influence of armed criminal networks in Nigeria.
