‘Nigerians want impact, not figures’ – Natasha on Tinubu’s N58.18trn budget

Nigerian activist Natasha has called for tangible results from the N58.18 trillion 2026 budget presented by President Bola Tinubu, stressing that citizens are more concerned with real improvements than mere numbers. She highlighted that while the federal budget outlines ambitious allocations, the priority should be on delivering visible impact in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.

Natasha expressed concerns that past budgets often fail to translate allocations into concrete projects. “People want to see roads completed, hospitals functional, schools properly equipped, and communities safer. Figures alone don’t put food on the table or create jobs,” she said. Her statement resonates with many Nigerians who have long been frustrated by delays and inefficiencies in budget execution.

She also emphasized accountability and monitoring, urging both the legislature and the executive to ensure that the proposed expenditures are tracked and implemented as planned. Natasha suggested that citizens should be given regular updates on the progress of key projects and that performance metrics should be tied to budget releases.

The activist concluded by calling on the government to prioritize efficiency, reduce leakages, and focus on initiatives that improve living standards. For Natasha, a successful budget is not measured by its total value, but by the actual positive changes it brings to people’s lives.
