Former senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the new United States visa restrictions, urging Nigerians to remain at home and contribute to national development. According to him, the policy should serve as a wake-up call for citizens who believe solutions to their problems can only be found abroad.
Sani said countries that progress do so because their people choose to stay, work hard, and fix their systems rather than abandon them. He stressed that migration should not be seen as the only path to success, adding that Nigeria still has the human capacity needed to grow.
Reacting to public frustration over the visa ban, the former lawmaker noted that foreign nations have the right to protect their borders and make decisions in their own interest. He advised Nigerians to focus more on governance, accountability, and nation-building at home.
His comments have sparked debate on social media, with some agreeing that Nigerians must invest more effort in developing their country, while others argue that poor leadership and insecurity continue to push citizens to seek opportunities overseas.
