MDCN warns CMDs against retaining Doctors with expired licenses

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has issued a strict warning to Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) across the country. The regulatory body emphasized that no hospital should employ or retain doctors whose licenses have expired.

MDCN stated that working with expired licenses is a serious breach of medical ethics and could compromise patient safety. CMDs were urged to verify all medical practitioners’ licenses regularly to ensure compliance.

The council highlighted that hospitals failing to adhere to this directive may face sanctions. The warning aims to uphold professional standards and maintain public trust in the healthcare system.

MDCN also encouraged doctors to renew their licenses on time and reminded hospital administrators that patient welfare is paramount. Regular monitoring and strict adherence to regulations were stressed as essential.
